Updated: Revenge for MSU's Magic Johnson statue vandalism

Updated 1:59 p.m., Fri. Oct. 16:

According to the Detroit Free Press, this morning an image surfaced showing a wolverine statue  from U-M's North Campus painted with a white "S."

“Competition is always heightened leading up to Michigan-Michigan State game,” U-M spokeswoman Kim Broekhuizen told the Free Press. “Whoever may be responsible for this spate of vandalism on our two campuses is only tarnishing this great in-state rivalry.”

Who is behind this madness?

Just a month after Michigan State University's Sparty statue was defaced, someone (or a group of someones) has spray-painted the campus' Magic Johnson statue in the wee hours between Wednesday and Thursday.

MSU basketball player Alvin Ellis tweeted a photo of the crime scene Thursday morning. Similar to the Sparty case, the vandal(s) spray-painted a maize "M" on the statue's chest. On the pedestal, the words "BEAT STATE" were scrawled.

IT COULD BE A CLUE AS TO WHO THE PERPETRATORS ARE.
