Here are the completed Southwest Detroit murals

Earlier, we shared work-in-progress photos of three new murals that were being painted in Southwest Detroit, created by Mexican and Mexican-American artists in a joint effort by Detroit's Inner State Gallery and Mexico City's Fifty24MX. Southwest Detroit resident, photographer, and community leader Erik Howard sent us these photos of the completed murals. 

Mexican artist Saner painted this at Beebe’s 2 Supermercado at 1421 Springwells St., Detroit:



Mexican artist Jesús Benitez painted this diptych at Garage Cultural at 3439 Livernois, Detroit:





And Mexican-American artist Victor "Marka27" Quiñonez from Boston, Mass. painted this on the side of El Asador Steakhouse, 1312 Springwells St., Detroit:

The Alley Project helped locate local businesses willing to donate walls to the project. And speaking of Howard, he also curated Lowriding: From Crenshaw to Woodward at the Scarab Club, an exhibition dedicated to the cultural impact of lowrider cars and bikes. The show has a closing reception from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 16. The Scarab Club is located at 217 Farnsworth St., Detroit; 313-831-1250; scarabclub.org.
