Gwen Joy & Marianne Audrey Burrows @ RIC & Guardian Building Turns 80

Gwen Joy

You only have a couple more days to make it to the Russell Industrial to check out the new art space belonging to one of this writer's favorite out-and-about Detroiters, Gwen Joy, and the marvelous Marianne Audrey Burrows. Marianne, we don't know each other yet, but there's a Leonard Cohen song called " So Long, Marianne" and it's beautiful. Stop by by 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. More info:http://www.ricdetroit.org/.

Tonight!!! Pure Detroit's beautiful beating heart brings us the 80th Anniversary Celebration of the Guardian Building, one of our city's most beloved architectural masterpieces.

Ten authors will be on hand for signing and confabulating. Wayne State University President, Jay Noren, will be on hand to say something nice about history or something and Wayne County Executive Robert Ficano (one of those "superdelegates" we heard so much about during the presidential elections) will also open his mouth and words will come out of it.

Best of all, you'll be surrounded by the deco decadence of the Guardian.
