The new video for the Mason Proper single, "Lock & Key," from their new Olly Oxen Free album premieres tomorrow night (Oct. 23rd) on MTV2 Subterranean at 1 a.m.
Speaking of Ann Arbor bands, Tally Hall have just unveiled episode number three of Tally Halls' Internet Show, an online reality program written, directed and produced by all five members of the band. It marks the first time a major label (Atlantic Records) has executive produced an Internet variety show. The band is doing great on its current tour, with Santa Monica, CA's highly influential KCRW sponsoring shows for Tally Hall at NYC's Knitting Factory and L.A.'s Largo, and the Washington Times proclaiming “The future belongs to bands like Kings of Leon and Tally Hall and other artists who use the Web to interact with fans in a sustained way and with humor and intelligence.” Tally Hall's Internet Show can be viewed by clicking here.
Stevie Wonder dedicated his concert in Melbourne, Australia last weekend to the memory of the late, great Levi Stubbs and then performed the Four Tops' "I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch)." What a class act. Unfortunately, a clip from the show hasn't turned up on youtube yet. Speaking of Mr. Wonder, the U.S. Library of Congress recently announced that the artist is the winner of the Second Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song. The Award presentation will take place in the Great Hall of the Library on Feb 23, 2009. The Library has also offered, and Wonder has accepted, a musical commission, putting Stevie in the company of such great composers as Aaron Copland, Leonard Bernstein and Paquito D'Rivera.
Hamtramck's favorite sons the Polish Muslims play this Saturday October 25th at their Fifth Annual Beer and Bangers party. The event takes place at Whiskey In The Jar, 2741 Yemans, Hamtramck, 313-873-4154, Festivities start at 11 a.m.; the Muslims play at 6 p.m. No cover. Beer and food available, with the big screen TV broadcasting the UofM -MSU game (Go Spartans!) The early Vegas odds, according to the band's Dave Uchalik, have the Muslims favored to start on time for once and predicting that the team that scores more points will win the football game.

Admission's a measley five bucks.
