Old Forester Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey

Did you know that originally Old Forester was called Old Forrester after Dr. William Forrester and was used for medicinal purposes in the late 1800s? Well, there's your history lesson for the day. The whiskey brand has come a long way since those days before the 20th Century, making history, receiving accolades, and remaining popular ever since. In fact, it was the first bourbon to ever be bonded in a bottle to keep it from being tainted, it was documented as the first bourbon to ever be used in a Manhattan, and the Birthday Bourbon was named the "Best Bourbon in the world."

Old Forester Signature 100 Proof — Old Forester Signature pours a deep dark, golden amber and has a rich nose of caramel, vanilla, honey, oak, and spice. Its taste is oak-y with hints of vanilla and those caramel and spice notes that are present in the nose. Old Forester is complex up front, but especially in its finish; this is due to the 18 percent rye that's present, which adds spice notes and a more mature flavor profile.

Old Forester 86 — Old Forester 86 Proof is made in the same classic style originated by George Garvin Brown in 1870 and is less spicy and robust than its stronger brother. It's twice-distilled and is crafted using a precise grain recipe of corn, rye, and malted barley, ingredients that form a fulsome, complex nose. The taste is through and the finish is long, but neat.
