O'Mara's will host a benefit for Taylor Allen today

Twenty-year-old Taylor Allen passed away three weeks ago from an unknown medical condition. She was a waitress at Berkley's O'Mara's, who will host a benefit today in her honor to help her parents pay for her funeral costs as well as to benefit her favorite charitable organization, the National Autism Foundation.

"Taylor was a beautiful caring soul who would do anything for anyone," says Todd Starks of O'Mara's. "She was with us here at O'Mara's for four years and was a graduate of Berkley High School and attending Oakland Community College in hopes of becoming a social worker."

The benefit runs from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. and will include entertainment by Ron Coden, Even Exchange, Aaron Vaughn Band, Steve Acho, Steve Taylor, Julie Haven, Karen Newman, Madigan's Attic, National Comedians and an Acoustic headlining performance by Sponge.

Tickets are $15 and there will also be a 50/50 raffle. O'Mara's is located at 2555 12 Mile Rd. in Berkley; 248-399-6750; omaras.net.
