If you Google Mirah, the internet tries forcing you to change your mind and instead search for Mariah Carey. The two female singers couldn't be any different. Mirah is a New York-based songbird who pens whimsical tunes that are perfectly personified by her strong yet ethereal and feminine vocals. Mariah Carey is married to Nick Cannon.
Mirah isn't a big name, many have probably never heard of her, though her 2009 album (a)spera hit #46 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart. She hasn't experienced a ton of commercial success and though we've never gotten the chance to ask her, we suspect that's just the way she likes it.
She released her first album in 1998. Two years later her first full-length album came out. You Think It's Like This But Really It's Like This, was filled with special little tunes, none of them anywhere big (or obnoxious) enough to match any garbage Mariah Carey spews forth for repeated radio play.
Fourteen years later, Mirah has released a new record, Changing Light and has taken to the road to support the new release. She'll perform at Trinosophes on Wednesday, Oct. 1 Doors open at 8 p.m. and tickets are $12.
