Hunger Free Summer aims to provide 2 million meals to children in Detroit

Stomp out hunger

The folks behind this year’s Hunger Free Summer crusade have set an ambitious goal: to provide 2 million meals to children in the Detroit area. Coordinated by Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan and the Charter One Foundation, the campaign aims to assist the hundreds of thousands of children in metro Detroit who have come to rely on free or reduced-fee meals during the school year. For these kids, summer breaks mean missed meals. Thanks to this program, a donation of $1 can provide six healthful meals for hungry children. The campaign continues all summer long. Have a heart: help a kid to a plate. For more information, email [email protected] or call 866-453-2637, ext. 406.
