A federal lawsuit brought by the Insane Clown Posse and the ACLU to remove Juggalos, the rap duo's fans, from an FBI list describing them as a gang was dismissed today.
As Metro Times reported in a cover story this January, the lawsuit’s origins dated back to 2011, when, "as part of the DOJ’s National Gang Threat Assessment, the FBI classified the Juggalos as a "loosely organized hybrid gang" based on nothing more than individual instances of crime."
The Associated Press reports, Detroit federal Judge Robert H. Cleland tossed the lawsuit on grounds that "government isn't responsible for acts by local police agencies that use the 2011 report."
Juggalos say their reputations have suffered because they have jewelry or tattoos with the group's symbol, a man running with a hatchet.
