Where the girls are

Speaking of art, whenever I hear the word “Girlee,” I reach for my keyboard, especially with a special one-week exhibition featuring the Girlee Collective Detroit about to hit your eye like a big pizza pie (“that’s amore”). Cranbrook Art Museum opens the show with one of its “Fabulous Friday Nights” on June 15, 7-11 p.m., combining an outdoor performance by all-girl rockers Stun Gun with an advance look at the work of Girlee’s 90 artists (from photographers and painters to sculptors and neon artists). Also on the bill is a screening of Nicole Cattell’s film, Come Unto Me: The Faces of Tyree Guyton. Ann Delisi of 96.3 FM hosts the evening. Admission is $5. But if you can’t get away from the dire necessities on Friday or don’t like maddening crowds, the show is up until June 24.
