Fatal flaw?

Everyone’s got a gimmick, even Oakwood Healthcare System. The deal is this: If you need emergency care at Oakwood Healthcare Center in Canton and it takes longer than 30 minutes for a physician to see you, you get both a personal apology and a free pair of Star Theatre movie tickets. Maybe we just like to poke fun at good-intentioned people, but isn’t Oakwood overlooking one possible flaw in its plan? What happens if you die as a result of the doc’s failure to see you in 30 minutes? The good news is that Oakwood’s Dearborn hospital has been running the same promotion since July and it seems to be working. The hospital saw 55,000 patients in the past seven months, but has only had to give away 55 pairs of tickets. Let’s just hope those who “won” the tickets had the chance to use them.
