Cruise or lose

There is a nautical parade of sorts that even the cynics at News Hits don’t want to see rained upon, and that is the Citizens Environment Alliance’s boat tour of the Detroit River. The third installment of this annual event is scheduled for Sept. 23. Expert narrators will be aboard to point out environmental hot spots and fish and wildlife habitats.

“It is,” say event organizers, “an excellent opportunity to learn more about this special river and the need to begin real and meaningful environmental restoration and rehabilitation.”

Tickets for the four-hour excursion, including lunch, are $25 (U.S.). For more information contact the CEA in Windsor at 519-973-1116 or visit its Web site at www.mnsi.net/~cea. News Hits is edited by Metro Times news editor Curt Guyette. He can be reached at
