City Slang: Trinosophes show

Trinosophes just keeps coming with the great shows. Sunday sees an appearance by Lotte Anker and Fred Lonberg-Holm Duo.

They say, “Danish composer/saxophonist Lotte Anker works with equal parts emotive abandon and controlled investigation. She is comfortable in a range of contexts, as shown by her collaborations with such diverse artists as Fred Frith, Craig Taborn and Gerald Cleaver, and Marilyn Crispell. Her performance at our 2008 Festival was the surprise set of the weekend that no one was ready for.
This time out, Lotte is joined by Chicago's leading creative cellist, Fred Lonberg-Holm, who has appeared in our series about dozen times over the years- and not without reason. Fred has performed in the best ensembles coming from that city (Joe McPhee Trio, Vandermark 5, Fast Citizens etc.), and is one of just a handful of cellists really pushing the instrument in new directions. Beyond his many collaborations in improvised/New Music circles, Fred has the sort of broad sonic appeal that has landed him in collaborations with pop groups like God is My Co-Pilot and Wilco. This show marks the Detroit debut of Lotte and Fred as a duo. Doors at 7 pm; pay what you can- $10 suggested.
