A group of 500 or so demonstrators picketed to the same beat as on Tuesday, chanting to the rhythm ably banged on a trash can. After about an hour, when police had shut down Griswold between Larned and Congress, the crowd congregated out in the street facing the entrance to the Guardian.
After a few individuals representing Moratorium NOW! and locals spoke to the enthusiastic crowd, the Occupy Detroit group led a group of 200 from Larned toward Greektown. The march was highlighted by the wittiest chant of the now week-long demonstration when an adaptation of "When the Saints Come Marching In" broke out.
"Oh when Detroit comes marching in, you're gonna see a revolution, when Detroit comes marching in!"
For nearly an hour, four cops on horseback followed the group in the street while police drove alongside and politely asked the demonstrators to move to the sidewalk.
"Who's street? Our street!" was the overwhelming response from the crowd. The march went off without a hitch as it was met with an overt positive response, and police simply directed and streamlined traffic while it flowed back into Grand Circus Park.
"Isn't that nice?" said marcher Dan Neal. "I think we did very well, and I think the police did very well too."
