Ever since Ford Motor Company purchased the long-vacant Michigan Central Station, they've been leaning hard on the building's inherently ominous and spooky exterior.
Last month, Ford announced that it would convert the first floor of the train depot into a free one-day-only haunted house event — only to reveal that just 800 tickets will be made available and will be distributed by community and business leaders focusing on admitting Corktown-based families.
Even though the event itself might be more treat than trick, anyone looking for a pre-Halloween drive-by haunt can catch a glimpse of Ford's light display through the depot's 1,050 windows. Ford ran an official light test Monday night with a menacing larger-than-life jack-o'-lantern face. A Reddit user also spotted a roving eyeball during last night's test.
Lights will be on view until 10 p.m. tonight. The indoor festivities will run from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Oct. 31 with 400 people admitted into the train station in two waves. Outside the station, Ford will host a separate trunk-or-treat event, which the public is permitted to attend.
