Nothing calls to mind the sweet age of indie rock quite like the musical stylings of Interpol, who first formally shimmied into our hearts with their 2002 debut Turn on the Bright Lights. Since then, the New York trio, fronted by Paul Banks, has not strayed far from their early 2000’s post-punk sound. A follow-up to 2014’s El Pintor, the band’s latest, Marauder, finds Interpol revisiting old antics — Banks’ voice still reminds us of Joy Division’s Ian Curtis — this time with a stark-dose of cynicism and a refined brand of frenzied rock. Sunflower Bean opens.

Interpol will perform at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 16 at the Royal Oak Music Theatre; 318 W. Fourth St., Royal Oak; 248-399-2980; royaloakmusictheatre.com; Tickets start at $34.
