It looks as though J.Crew's popular women's offshoot Madewell is preparing to open its first Detroit location.

According to a job listing on the company's website, Madewell is seeking to fill a store director position as well as two assistant manager spots.

The new location is slated for somewhere along Woodward Ave. More specifically, Crain's Detroit Business reports it will be next to the Shinola Hotel, based on a conversation with an employee at the retailer's Troy location.

However, the retail space next to the under-construction boutique hotel is already occupied by retailer Detroit Is The New Black. Bedrock, which owns the properties along that block, declined to comment for Crain's.

Madewell offers what it calls "effortlessly-cool essentials." Price points range from $14.50 t-shirts, $135 jeans, and $198 leather ankle boots.

The store will join the ranks of retailers Bonobos, Lululemon, Nike, Under Armor, John Varvatos, and the recently opened Dutch denim designer G-Star RAW which hocks $350 jeans — all of which occupy the Woodward Ave. stretch between John R. St. and Grand River Ave.
