Grassroots music festival Charivari is making moves to return to West Riverfront Park this summer with brand new dates.

The event, which historically has been held during the first weekend in August, is pushing things back a bit with a new date of Aug. 17-19.

Charivari (pronounced "Shahr-uh-vahr-ee") is a term that dates back to the middle ages, and refers to a "loud and elaborate musical celebration." It is also the name of the Detroit party crew from the early days of Detroit's electronic music dance scene.

The hyper-local music festival focuses on Detroit-born and bred producers and DJs and is making its return after rattling fans by asking for donations via GoFundMe. Initially, it was unclear whether the family-friendly music festival would be returning at all this year, but with the help of donations, Charivari is making its way home again.
