30 years was long enough for 9 city lots in Hamtramck to sit empty. On June 9th, 2012 more than 100 volunteers gathered to breathe new life into this one of a kind space. This working orchard and community garden aims to revitalize and reunite Hamtramck's south end in a very sustainable way.
Built on the former site of the historic Lafayette Building, Lafayette Greens is a nearly half-acre garden space in the downtown district of Detroit. With 35 raised beds, fruit trees, a children's garden and more, Lafayette Greens works as a demonstration garden with edible foods and green space for relaxation.
