Devil's Night Gallery (A Film+Art Event)

Fri., Oct. 12, 8-11 p.m.

The only film festival in the world inspired by Rod Serling's tv series, Night Gallery, is back for its 3rd year at metro Detroit's premiere art event venue. Devil's Night Gallery features a selection of short films ranging in genre and style but all are chosen for their ability to fit in with the Rod Serling style, horror, comedy and sci-fi, often with a twist ending or social message. Each film will have an original piece of art created by local artists and revealed during the film's introduction by an awful Rod Serling impersonator. There's no film fest like it. $5.00

DIY Street Fair

Fri., Sept. 21, 6 p.m., Sat., Sept. 22, 11 a.m. and Sun., Sept. 23, 11 a.m.

You can do it yourself without doing it alone thanks to Ferndale’s beloved DIY Street Fair. For 11 years, this crafty blowout has celebrated innovation, collaboration, and the beautiful minds of metro Detroit’s most ambitious makers. Though the focus of the three-day, completely free fair is the marketplace where visitors can snag some one-of-a-kind wares, DIY Street Fair is a party. Expect to be tempted by an array of craft beer, wine, and cocktails poured by local favorites, as well as a slew of delectable edibles supplied by food trucks. Brother Son, The True Blue, Too Many Zoos, Ryan Dillaha and the Miracle Men, and Tunde Olaniran are among the festival’s 20-plus performances. free
