Michigan Watercolor Society: 72nd Annual Award Recipients Exhibition

This exhibition features the thirty award winning watercolor paintings from the Michigan Watercolor Society’s 72nd Annual Exhibition. Juror, Chris Krupinski, made exhibition choices based on a variety of considerations. He chose pieces with a broad selection of subject matter, genre and approach, as well as successful composition and design elements, and those that convey strong personal expressions of one kind or another. 4thFridays, Metro Detroit's longest running Christian music venue, features music, poetry and comedy in a coffeehouse setting. The event showcases gifted independent Christian artists and is presented every fourth Friday of the month (except in November and December) by the CAMP and Red Letter Records. 4F is held in Studio A at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center (also known as the Michael Guido Theatre) Doors open at 8pm & shows start at 8:30pm. National Philanthropy Day is the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Greater Detroit Chapter's premier annual event that celebrates Southeastern Michigan's philanthropists, distinguished volunteers and those in the fundraising profession. The event begins with a reception at 4:45 p.m., followed by dinner and the awards presentation at 6:30 p.m. More than 700 people are expected to attend this celebration of giving. The gathering is annually the largest of its kind in Southeastern Michigan, bringing together corporate and civic leaders, philanthropists, community volunteers, individual and institutional funders, board members, not-for-profit leaders, and other guests. 248-892-6355

CutTime Simfonica - 'Model-T Magic'

The full CutTime Simfonica (string sextet+light drums) will feature many of founder Rick Robinson's most dramatic and cathartic compositions and arrangements for the 50th anniversary of the Fair Lane Music Guild series. Robinson is a former DSO bassist-turned-composer on a mission to broaden audiences for classical and symphonic music with casual, lively, eclectic, soulful, demonstrative and informative performances; a style he calls "new classical." What's more, the very expressive MOT Concertmaster Eliot Heaton will join, improvising at times with Musique Noire violist Leslie DeShazor. Program also includes Ruslan and Ludmilla Overture to Bach, Ellington, Beethoven, Still, Leroy Anderson and Chabrier. 313-593-5330
