Founder's Day at Motown Museum

Throughout the day, attendees will get to enjoy special musical and spoken word performances, a DJ, dance floor, food trucks, and other community vendors. Patrons will also enjoy half off admission all day. The Detroit Police Department will also be onsite to recruit cadets during the event. Detroit Children’s Choir (DCC) presents “Shine@MotownMansion,” a Motown-themed gala starting at 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 28 at the Motown Mansion and will feature live entertainment by members of the Detroit Children’s Choir. This unique event also features a strolling dinner, auction and Motown dance party on the grounds of the historic property once owned by Berry Gordy, founder of Motown Records. Proceeds will benefit the vocal music education programs of DCC, a Detroit-based arts organization that has served more than 3,700 students in grades 3-12 throughout metro Detroit since 2006. $125-250

This inaugural JazzWorks concert features compositions and improvisations by saxophonist Marcus Elliot and pianist Michael Malis, with special guests. Known collectively as “Balance,” Michael and Marcus will perform as a duo, and each will also separately present a brand new composition with their own ensembles. $15-$30
