It's that beautiful time of year again when we celebrate the best the city has to offer! The Metro Times Best of Detroit Party returns Friday, Aug. 24 to celebrate the best metro Detroit restaurants, bars, clubs, businesses, entertainment, and more.

We're taking the party to the water this year! The party starts at 6:30 p.m. at Detroit's Roostertail. Entertainment includes triple headliners Rio & the Rockabilly Revival, Beggars, and the Reefermen; burlesque performances from the fabulous Miss Holly Hock, Ada Vice, Leena Allure; additional music from DJ Danny D; food from more than 20 restaurants; and specialty cocktails.

General admission tickets include entry, bites from more than 20 restaurants, and five drink tickets. Tickets are $35 through Aug. 23, or $50 day of the party. VIP tickets are $55 through Aug. 23 and include VIP entrance, valet parking, VIP swag bag, exclusive VIP bar, food, and seven drink tickets.

On Saturday, August 25, the committee will team up with local historian Jamon Jordan for an exciting bus tour. Participants will visit sites with Michigan Historical Markers that commemorate African American contributions to state and national history. Site stops will include the Home of Ossian Sweet and the William V. Banks Broadcast Museum, as well as the Gateway to Freedom Monument at Hart Plaza, just to name a few. The last stop on the tour will be the Motown Museum, one of Detroit’s greatest gems. $30 for DHS members, $35 for non-DHS members
