Maya Stovall: Liquor Store Theatre Performance Films

Considered an innovator in the disciplines of dance, theory, anthropology, ethnography, and contemporary art, Detroit-based Maya Stovall fuses all that work into an engaging film series of site-specific dance interventions that began in 2014. Cranbrook will feature the series and premiere a new film created in summer 2017 for the exhibition.

AAFF is hosting a Poster Release party at the Ann Arbor Art Center on February 24, from 10am-12pm. Coffee and baked goods (find out which sponsors are donating from Leslie) will be provided. Pick up a poster, meet AAFF staff and volunteers and be among the first to watch the 56th festival's trailers. It is also a perfect time to renew your membership! The event will be held in the second floor gallery at AAAC, 117 W Liberty, during the Art Now: Drawing exhibition. This annual show features a different medium each year. Free

The Universe of Keith Haring Learn more about the brief but meteoric career of artist Keith Haring in this documentary film by Christina Clausen. The film explores the legacy of Haring’s playful style, political messages, and complex symbolism through archival footage, original interviews with the artists, and personal accounts by friends and contemporaries. Film screenings are held in Cranbrook Art Museum’s deSalle Auditorium, are free to ArtMembers and all students with identification (and included with admission for the public)! Free
