In 2008, Riverside Kayak Connection (RKC) began working with the Detroit Eastside Community Collaborative to bring kayaking to the canals of Detroit. The historical tour leaves from Detroit’s Maheras-Gentry Park. Kayak out to the Detroit River from the Park’s protected bay and then upstream to the historic canals. Highlights of this tour include the Fisher Mansion, Nike Missile Control Site, stories of the Purple Gang, the friendly residents of Detroit's "Little Venice" and a view of Motor City's downtown. $45

The Detroit Full Moon Tour leaves from the Belle Isle Kayak Beach on the East end of Belle Isle Park. Paddle past the Belle Isle swimming beach, historic Detroit Boat Club, and under the MacArthur Bridge. At the tip of Belle Isle, Sunset Point, enjoy views of the sun-setting over the Detroit skyline and on the paddle back to the beach watch the moon rise over Belle Isle. On Garden Walk Day, tickets are $20, cash only and can be purchased at garden locations only.
