    Ford Gallery is excited to present Breaking Boundaries- a diverse and exploratory group exhibition featuring work made by the seniors of Eastern Michigan University’s School of Art & Design. The results of our artists’ years-long experimentations are being shown from Thursday, April 4th to Saturday, April 27th. The show—with an opening reception on Wednesday, April 10th from 4:30-7:30pm— features work completed for upper level Art Studio courses by senior level students.     Join us at MOCAD Friday, April 19 from 6–8pm to celebrate the opening of the Annual Teen Art Exhibition titled SELFish. The exhibition will be on view April 19–May 26, 2024. SELFish is organized by MOCAD’s 2023–2024 Teen Council. SELFish explores the many different ways our teens across Southeastern Michigan communities convey their identity through creative means. Whether an abstract composition, an interpretive sculpture, or a traditional self-portrait, all art is an opportunity to better understand its creator.     Annex Gallery (at 333 Midland) presents "Anthropocene Transmissions," an art exhibit reflecting on the nuclear power/weapons industries, their accidents and their long legacy. This show willl simultaneously feature a solo exhibit by Marat Paransky, with objects and images created since 2010, as well as an invitational, group show of new works by 19 Detroit-area artists and makers. Exhibit dates: May 3rd - May 19th. Opening reception is on Saturday, May 4th, from 4pm - 7pm. Gallery hours following the opening: Saturdays, 12pm - 3pm and by appointment.

In a place like South East Michigan, where so many holes have been torn, reaching for a hand without the tools to stitch us back together – fiber art is helping piece together a vibrant community, reminding ourselves that we all hold vibrancy in our individuality. Piece by Piece explores what contemporary fiber making in the area looks like today, and where it will take us in the future.     The Pewabic House & Garden Show is free and open to the public!
