Established in 2011, the Lincoln Street Art Park, located at 5926 Lincoln St. in Detroit is a community arts project tucked behind a recycling center on Holden Avenue. Items dropped off for recycling can find a new life as a piece of artwork in the park.
The Lincoln Street Art Park also features incredible displays of graffiti, such as the lovely and sizable owl.
Another example of trash being reused for art is The Heidelberg Project at 3600 Heidelberg St., Detroit. Located in Detroit’s East Side and spanning two blocks, the Heidelberg Project uses discarded items that are repurposed into eclectic pieces of art.
