As most people know, when you’re an introvert, hanging out with other people can be a real energy zapper. While many introverts have social lives, good friends, and go out, they often need places to wind down alone or in peace.

Detroit Public Library
What about the Detroit Public Library (or any library, for that matter)? What better way to spend a quiet afternoon than in a library, surrounded by books? You can also use one of the many computers (or bring your own) for a quiet retreat. And talking isn’t encouraged! Just don’t forget to bring your headphones if you want to watch something. Goldfish Tea
Goldfish Tea in Royal Oak is an atmospheric tea shop that is a great place for the average introvert. Located on West Fourth street off Main, this shop offers a wide selection of various teas, coffees, and bubble teas (a taiwanese dessert drink that often includes tapioca balls or jellies at the bottom). Riverfront
If you’ve never been to the Riverfront downtown then you are truly missing out on a prime introvert location. One of the best parts about the Riverfront is that there are so many different spots for you to hangout. Hart Plaza is gorgeous and fairly calm, and the water of the Detroit River is super soothing. Palmer Park
Put on your “Parks & Rec” hat on and head to one of Detroit’s oldest parks for a lovely afternoon of relaxation and quiet time. You can take a nice stroll through the park and enjoy the scenery or bring a book and blanket and get lost in the pages. Photo via Facebook.

Bean and Leaf
If tea is not to your taste, Bean and Leaf, also in Royal Oak is a chill, quiet environment that offers a variety of coffee drinks. Teas too, but coffee is their specialty. Planet Rock
If you want to do something a little more physical, without the atmosphere of a gym? Look no further than Planet Rock in Madison Heights. After your introductory lesson of how to climb and belay, you are left totally on your own to explore and experience rock climbing at your leisure. Urban Bean Co.

Eastern Market
This may seem insane given the fact that the Eastern Market is a god damned mad house every single weekend, but if you go alone, you can totally keep to yourself and have quite the peaceful afternoon. No one really bothers each other while grocery shopping (besides the occasional “excuse me” here and there) and most people want to get in and get out. Located right downtown in Ferndale, the Detroit Bubble Tea Co. is a fantastic place for introverts who don’t really vibe well with the classic, hippy-vibe coffee shops. It’s super colorful, vivid, and the bubble tea isn’t half bad either! Photo via Facebook.
