Saturday, 2/27 - The Who @ Joe Louis Arena - Not to be macabre, but increasingly, when it comes to our rock ’n’ roll heroes from the 1960s and ’70s, you never know when it’s going to be your last chance to see them perform. Even if they’ve already done a dozen “farewell” tours, because no one takes those seriously anymore. We all know you’ve got the three mortgages on the two houses with your fourth wife, and hence the need for revenue. The Who’s anthems have always been the best, and they’ve been one of the best live bands for decades, so you know you want to be there. They’re not doing the Who Sell Out in its entirety, but it’ll still be tremendous enough. Doors at 7:30 p.m.; 19 Steve Yzerman Dr., Detroit; olympiaentertainment.com; Tickets $39.50-$139.50.

Saturday, 2/27 - The Volebeats @ UFO Factory - As they directly influenced Uncle Tupelo who then became the prime movers of the alt-country renaissance in the 1990s, it’s hard to overstate the importance of the Volebeats, whose music was as awesome as it was ahead of its time. The Hamtramck-based band helped push alternative country to the forefront for so many other artists, and is so often the case they themselves made far better jams. The band will be joined by Craig Brown Band and Jay Clark Reid. Doors at 9 p.m.; 2110 Trumbull, Detroit; tickets are $7.

Tuesday, 2/25 - Cactus Blossoms @ The Loving Touch - The Cactus Blossoms (not to be confused with the Texas Roadhouse fried onion) are a country duo that has just released their latest album You’re Dreaming. The duo, composed of brothers Jack and Page sound like they don’t belong in this century. When we say they draw inspiration from country roots, we mean as far back as you can go. Twang and harmonies overlap each other effortlessly. Country music isn’t made like this anymore. Doors at 8 p.m.; 22634 Woodward Ave., Ferndale; tickets are $12.
