Americane Vintage Track & Road Bike Festival. A show and swap meet, bringing together vintage track- and road-cycling enthusiasts from around the country. Beat the Train. A 33-mile ride through the early morning streets of Detroit. Takes off every Saturday at 6 a.m. from Fort Wayne, April through October. Helmets are required. Bike Ypsi. This cadre of enthusiastic Ypsi riders holds weekly rides 52 weeks a year. Sunday rides depart from Recreation Park at 1 p.m. and last for about an hour or two, depending on the size and ability of the group. On Friday mornings, meet at Beezy's Cafe at 8 a.m. to take part in a group cycling commute to the office. Beezy's, 20 N. Washington St., Ypsilanti, 734-485-9625. (Saturdays and Sundays) Ongoing.

Birmingham Bike Festival. The fest features a criterium bike race (a race with a short course on closed-off city streets), family-friendly events, live entertainment and more. See BirminghamBikeFestival.org for details. Downtown Birmingham. (8/26, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.)

Colin Hubbell Memorial Bike Ride. This annual ride is held in honor of Detroit advocate Colin Hubbell. To continue the work Hubbell did for the city, funds from the ride benefit the Colin Hubbell Fund, which provides grants to projects and businesses that contribute to the physical infrastructure and community building of Detroit neighborhoods. Critical Mass. Large bike ride the last Friday of every month. Meet at the corner of Warren & Trumbull. All welcome. Detroit. Free. (6/29, 6:30 p.m.; 7/27, 6:30 p.m.; 8/31, 6:30 p.m.; 9/28, 6:30 p.m.; 10/26, 6:30 p.m.) 

Fender Bender Maintenance Classes. Learn the basics of bike care, from patching a tube to adjusting your seat. Just $5 and includes a free patch kit. Held the second and fourth Tuesday of the month through Oct. The group, geared toward women and the LGBT community, also hosts montly full moon bike rides and is working on creating a bicycle lending library for the city. Wheelhouse Detroit, 1340 E. Fitness Work Rides. Free 20 mile biweekly fitness ride. Pace is 12 to 15 mph, and the ride lasts about 2 hours. Takes off every other Wednesday from Wheelhouse at 6 p.m., with a rest and hydration stop at Fitness Works in New Center. Wheelhouse Detroit, 1340 E. Atwater St., Detroit, 313-656-2453. Green Cruise Bike Rides. This yearly event celebrates all things green, and especially human-powered automation. The day includes three different bike rides: a 40-mile Detroit ride, a 20-mile suburban ride and a four-mile family ride. J-Cycle II: A Bike Tour of Historic Jewish Detroit. A 20-mile ride that includes 10 docent-narrated stops at spots significant to the history of Detroit's Jewish community. The tour sold out in its inaugural year last year, so be sure to register early. This year's event includes an entirely new route. See michjewishhistory.org for info. William G. Mad Anthony Cyclocross Race. The only USA Cycling sanctioned cyclocross bicycle race held in Detroit, this yearly event races over the walls, moats and trails of the 89-acre Fort Wayne Complex. Historic Fort Wayne, 6325 W. Jefferson at the foot of Livernois, Detroit, 248-557-7450. (10/20)

Motor City Bike & Brew Tours. A guided bike tour of Detroit breweries. Brewery History or Prohibition History tours available. Slow Roll to Slow Jams. A weekly ride that departs from Woodbridge Pub at 8 p.m. to cruise around the city before returning for the sweet sounds of the weekly Slow Jams DJs. Woodbridge Pub, 5169 Trumbull St., Detroit, 313-833-2701. Free. (Mondays, 8 p.m.)

The Thunderdrome! A balls-to-the-walls race of mopeds, mini-bikes, road bikes, mountain bikes, scooters, pit bikes and go-carts. Dorais Park, Intersection of Mound Rd. and Outer Dr., Detroit, 586-214-5964. $5. (6/30, 2 p.m.)

Tour de Ford Bike Ride. Fundraiser for the Tom Groth Patient Medical Needs Fund, which provides health care and social services to uninsured and underinsured patients. Tour de Troit. This annual event takes thousands of riders on an epic tour of the city, allowing riders to take over the streets of the Motor City with the help of a police escort. Last year's event attracted more than 4,400 cyclists to the two rides - the metric century for experienced bikers and the leisurely paced 40-mile main event for the rest of us. Funds from the ride support the Southwest Detroit Greenlink; after the ride, enjoy refreshments and eats in Roosevelt Park. Roosevelt Park, 2200 Michigan Ave., Detroit. $35 until June 30. (9/15)

Tree Farm Relay Race. A four-person relay race, perfect for relay and endurance race newbies, as well as experienced riders. The course features plenty of hills, passing zones and other fun treats. Wheelhouse Bike Tours. This riverfront bike shop hosts tours every weekend, as well as the occassional mid-week jaunt. Tours cover a wide variety of locations and subject matter, and most are suited for any skill level. Youth Rides. Weekly rides for cyclists between the ages of 11 and 16. Adult chaperones take the up-and-coming cruisers on a tour of city streets. Permission slips and helmets required.
