Nothing compares to the real thing, but we can dream. Long before the death of Prince Rogers Nelson, Gabriel Sanchez has led the Prince Experience. Sanchez has portrayed the iconic artist for nearly two decades and has studied the Purple Rain singer’s every nuance. Since Prince’s accidental overdose in 2016, Sanchez has said that the show has evolved from a cover band to a tribute concert, and into a healing experience for Prince fans, including himself. If you didn’t catch Prince’s final Detroit appearance (which sold out within minutes) at the Fox Theatre in 2015, close your eyes and go crazy.

The Prince Experience: A Tribute to Prince will take place at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 12 at Saint Andrew's Hall; 431 E. Congress St., Detroit; 313-961-8961; saintandrewsdetroit.com; Tickets are $13.
