Someone is coming home for the holidays — and he's bringing 12 days of charitable partying with him.

On Monday, Michigan-native GRiZ announced that 12 days of GRiZMAS will be returning to Detroit for its fifth year with a new program of holiday and charity based events in support of Detroit Public Schools Community District. As a prelude to his two-night run at the Masonic Temple on Dec. 14-15, (which almost always immediately sells out,) GRiZ will kick off the event series on Tuesday, Dec. 4, giving GRiZ fans ample opportunity to connect with the toking, saxophone-wielding, philanthropic DJ. Yes, you heard us.

Like some beautiful, weed-infused advent calendar, the agenda for 12 days of GRiZMAS is sweet and stuffed. This year the event includes a holiday pop-up shop, caroling in Cadillac Square, yoga in the Fisher Building, a roller disco, a mystery party, and more.

Although GRiZ, born Grant Kwiecinski, is now based in Colorado, he first got his start in music in Michigan, playing some of his first parties as a student of Michigan State University. The Southfield-raised Kwiecinski's brand of funk-fueled electronic music has helped him cultivate a strong network of fans and musical collaborators nationwide. After taking the main stage at Detroit's Movement Music Festival, Electric Forest Festival, and Colorado's legendary Red Rock's Amphitheatre, Kwiecinski debuted GRiZ Live Band which sees the Michigan artist step away from electronic music and fully embrace funk, soul, and jazz.
