Slum Village keeps Detroit's underground hip-hop alive at Saint Andrew's Hall

Posted By on Wed, Jul 11, 2018 at 10:07 AM

Rapper and producer J Dilla left his mark on his hometown of Detroit and the world of hip-hop at large in so many ways — both before and after his untimely death in 2006 due to cardiac arrest. One of his seminal projects was that of Slum Village, the hip-hop group made up of high school cohorts Dilla, Baatin (born Titus Glover), and T3 in 1991. Keeping Slum Village’s iconic underground hip-hop sound alive is sole surviving member T3 and producer Young RJ; the duo will tap into the group’s nine-album catalog and will be joined by Phat Kat, Guilty Simpson, Lllmac, Quest McCody, and Chise for a night to remember.

Slum Village will perform at 8:30 p.m. on Friday, July 13 at Saint Andrew's Hall; 431 E. Congress St., Detroit; 313-961-8961; saintandrewsdetroit.com; Tickets are $20.
