While it might be hard to peg San Francisco-based sensations Hunx and His Punx, Hunx (real name Seth Bogart) and his respective Punx have made some iteration of flirty doo-wop punk for at least a decade. They’ve become a bit of a cult favorite — which is why they are a perfect pre-show party for filmmaker John Waters' annual Detroit birthday bash. "A Very John Waters Birthday" continues with Waters offering his live commentary of Serial Mom featuring a performance by L7 on Saturday, April 21 and a live commentary for Desperate Living followed by a performance by frequent Waters collaborator Mink Stole on Sunday, April 22.

Hunx and His Punx will perform at El Club wsg Deadbeat Beat on Friday, April 20 at  8 p.m.; 4114 W. Vernor Hwy., Detroit; 313-279-7382; Tickets are $15-$20. Tickets for the live commentary are $65.00-$250.00.
