OK, so it's not the Grammys, but the Detroit Music Awards are just around the corner. The annual award show is now in its 27th iteration and they have some tricks up their sleeves.

This year Sponge — known for '90s Billboard rock chart-topping hits like "Plowing," and "Molly (16 Candles Down the Drain)" — will reunited for one magical evening. Though the band has remained active and led by original frontman Vinnie Dombroski, this appearance will mark the first time all five original members have performed together since 1994 — the same year their breakout debut, Rotting Pinata was released.

The DMAs dole out over 70 awards in 11 musical categories, and recipients are selected by local musicians and music industry professionals after an online vote, which occurs in phases. Melvin Davis and Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee Allee Willis will also be honored during the ceremony at the Fillmore on Friday, May 4.

In addition to a performance by Sponge, Detroit rapper Kash Doll, Frontier Ruckus, and Liquid Monk are slated to perform along with Virginia Violet and the Rays and Assemble Sound residents SYBLYNG.

Tickets for the Detroit Music Awards start at $22.50 and are available at LiveNationcom or at the Fillmore box office.
