Indie actress turned songstress Eszter Balint comes to Friday Night Live at DIA

Posted By on Fri, Jan 19, 2018 at 1:24 PM

If you have a knack for independent cinema, then the film Stranger Than Paradise might mean something to you. The 1984 Jim Jarmusch minimalist classic stars Eszter Balint. Balint has since strayed from the spotlight (though she snagged a role on the FX series Louie in 2014), but in 2015 she released Airless Midnight — a collection of sultry punk songs that channel the understated cinematic quality of a Jarmusch film. As part of the DIA’s Friday Night Live series, Balint will perform songs from the record followed by a special screening of Stranger Than Paradise.

Eszter Balint will perform at the DIA on Friday, January 19 at 7 and 8:30 p.m.; 5200 Woodward Ave., Detroit; 313-833-7900; dia.org; Event is free.
