Punk isn't dead. But music's beloved "Punk Rock Summer Camp," the Vans Warped Tour is admittedly on life-support. Founder and producer Kevin Lyman announced Wednesday afternoon that after 23 years the tour will make its final full run next summer.
Since 1995, theVans Warped Tour has served as a platform for lesser-known acts to play alongside punk veterans. The festival, notorious for occupying parking lots with little solace from lava-hot asphalt, launched countless careers such as Fallout Boy and My Chemical Romance and even propelled Blink 182 into "classic" territory. It could be argued that Warped Tourwas the birthing ground of the emo genre.
Wear your waterproof eyeliner and stock up on angst. Warped Tour rolls through Detroit on July 20, 2018.
