Paul Burch is a fascinating talent. I first encountered him as the drummer for Nashville's excellent and uncategorizable ensemble Lambchop in the early 1990s. In 1998, his western swing style band played at my own wedding in Oak Ridge, TN. He led the group by playing guitar and singing and needless to say (as the marriage itself lasted just over one year), his performance was the best part of the whole thing.

Few roots stylists have the sense of humor and ease that Buch does. He's not out to prove that he's the most authentic, so his music has a life to it that so much corny-ass Americana sorely lacks.
