Show preview: Miley Cyrus and Her Dead Petz at The Fillmore, Saturday Nov. 21st

This Saturday, Miley Cyrus appears at the Fillmore with backing band the Dead Petz (aka The Flaming Lips).

Earlier this week, the Onion ran a piece on Selena Gomez and reminded us of the way young female artists often serve as their listenership’s introduction to sexuality.

When Miley Cyrus initially teamed up with the Flaming Lips and appropriated their characteristically trippy live show, the process was again replicated only this time with psychedelic drugs. With the announcement that she appeared on stage for some of the first dates on her Dead Petz tour complete with fake boobs and strap on, maybe she has managed to combine both worlds.

Indeed, as popular culture seems to undergo cyclical fascination with certain drugs, one might think that hallucinogens are the substance du jour given the tone and content of Miley’s recent work, along with releases from other artists like A$AP Rocky’s “LSD.”

But even for the less chemically adventurous, the show on Saturday will undoubtedly provide audiences with a true spectacle of sight and sound.
