Dates announced for Trip Metal Fest #1: Memorial Day weekend, 2016

Posted By on Wed, Sep 9, 2015 at 10:21 AM

Fans of Michigan noise (honestly, soemtimes we forget there are other kinds) were all chuffed to learn last year that the Kresge Foundation had funded Nate Young of Wolf Eyes to put together a festival which will "bring local and international musicians together by presenting 'Trip Metal Festival,' a two-day festival featuring electronic music in all its forms. The Trip Metal Fest will feature electronic music in all its different forms: experimental, industrial, funk, punk, techno and more. The fest will take place during Memorial Day weekend, concurrent with the city’s Movement Festival, to best engage a diverse audience."

Smart move, piggybacking on Movement, no? I'm excited. Anyway, that's the big news — yesterday, the absolute official date for Trip Metal Fest was set — May 23, 2016 — along with a Facebook page for it. There is also a website, but it doesn't seem to do much at the moment. I tried clicking on different parts of the website to see if that would take me to some secret, cool, hidden part of it, to no avail. Are there secret cursor combinations I'm supposed to do, like hitting ctrl-TM while screaming the lyrics to "Run to the Hills" backwards and clicking the left corner 23 times? Please let me know, if you know; I'm cool! I won't tell anyone else, just like I've not written about M.U.G. events and house parties because I don't want the man to fuck shit up.
This Von Lmo clip has nothing to do with it, except for acting as a simple suggestion to book him, assuming he still inhabits this earthly plane.
