In the tradition of J-Dilla, Detroit’s beat scene is alive in kicking at Beats, Brews & BBQs The community of DJs, children of break-beats, and lovers of instrumentalists are making their presence known.

Beats, Brews & BBQs is a monthly outdoor summer event featuring some of Detroit’s best known producers. This month’s features are 5ill (California), RenCen CoolBeanz, Doc Illingsworth, King Cipher, Heavy Color (Ohio), Dayggs, and Sound Boy.

The show is this Sun., August 16, from 5 p.m. - 10 p.m., at the Old Miami, 3930 Cass Ave, Detroit.
