Show preview: Laura Rain and the Caesars at Boo's Blues Fri. Aug. 21

Posted By on Tue, Aug 11, 2015 at 8:05 AM

Check out Laura Rain and The Caesars at Boo’s Blues Club ten days from now on Friday, August 21 in Royal Oak (Boo’s is attached to Mr.B’s). Gritty soul is alive and well with Laura Rain and The Caesars.

The funky horn heavy and organ grooves of this Detroit act are timelessly earthy and rich. But the star of the show is Rain’s unique vocals. You can hear the saturation of blues vixens like Etta James and Gladys Knight seep into her phrasing. Her confidence is top notch as well. She isn’t singing to sound pretty. She is preaching with conviction.
With their new album Gold set to drop September 1, hope to hear a preview at this show. With how stripped down and honest Rain is, expect Gold to be anything but pyrite.

Show starts at 8:30 p.m.; 215 S. Main Street, Royal Oak; 248-399-0017; $10 cover.
