It was announced today that Lenny Kravitz will play Meadow Brook on Thursday, Aug. 27. Tickets will be available over at Livenation.com this Friday, starting at 10 a.m.

Kravitz is a handsome and stylish gentleman whose music borrows severely from sounds popularized by others in the 1960s and 1970s. So to get you in the mood, we've peppered some of his possible musical influences throughout the following press release, which I'm just cutting and pasting here — I'm not even writing anything on my own here, just copying it wholesale, OK? OK.

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – Multi-platinum and Grammy award-winning artist Lenny Kravitz brings his 2015 Strut Tour Live to Meadow Brook Music Festival on Thursday, August 27.

Tickets go on sale this Friday, July 17 at 10 a.m. at Livenation.com, Palacenet.com, The Palace and DTE Energy Music Theatre Ticket Stores and all Ticketmaster locations. Tickets may be also charged by phone to American Express, Discover, Visa and MasterCard by calling 800.745.3000.

Regarded as one of the preeminent rock musicians of our time, Kravitz has transcended genre, style, race and class into a 20-year musical career, one which revels in the rich influences of '60s and '70s soul, rock and funk.

Kravitz’s talents as a writer, producer and multi-instrumentalist have resonated through 10 studio albums into a timeless catalog. He has won four consecutive GRAMMY Awards, setting a record for the most wins in the “Best Male Rock Vocal Performance” category. Kravitz’s appeal has also been recognized by his peers; his collaborative efforts are as varied as his own influences, having worked with Madonna, Drake, Aerosmith, Jay-Z, Mick Jagger, Miguel and Alicia Keys.
His 10th studio album Strut, which was released in September 2014 via Roxie Records/ Kobalt Label Services, is a real rock & roll record that hits hard rhythmically and looks back on the 1970’s metropolis of funky after-hours grooves and soulful hooks. The album was named one of Rolling Stone’s Top Albums of 2014 and includes such standout titles as “New York City,” “I Never Want to Let You Down” and “She’s a Beast."

Having sold over 38 million albums worldwide, Kravitz’s musical success has afforded him many opportunities to fulfill his creative vision beyond the recording industry. Amongst his other endeavors, he has appeared in a supporting role in the critically-acclaimed film Precious, and the box office smash film The Hunger Games, as Cinna.

He reprised this role in the second film which was released in Fall 2013. Lenny was also seen in Lee Daniels’ The Butler (The Weinstein Company) alongside Forest Whitaker and Oprah Winfrey. Next up, Kravitz will be guest-starring in Season 2 of the new hit TV series Empire alongside Alicia Keys, Chris Rock and others.

Lenny Kravitz's 2015 Strut Tour Live at Meadow Brook Music Festival is part of the Belle Tire Concert Series.
