Alan Almond, host of the long-running, smooth-talking "Pillow Talk" radio show, died in his home in Beverly Hills, Mich. yesterday, at the age of 68. The cause appears to have been heart failure.

Almond, whose show was very popular and syndicated along the East Coast from the 1970s well into the 1990s, kept a low profile. None of the local obituaries ran with even one photograph of the legendary figure; he never wanted a photo released and enjoyed his relative anonymity. What an amazing voice and delivery he had! He is already missed, in Detroit and beyond. Even if photos do surface, we certainly see no need to release them.

Alan Almond's slow and deep baritone voice, his expert choice of smooth and sexy songs, and his late night time slot made him a fan favorite on all the area stations he broadcast on, including WNIC, WOMC, and WMJC.
