Grammy and Academy Award-winning Common (who as we all know is among the most handsome, talented, and universally beloved performers alive) will perform in the area as part of the MUSIC Matters charity show, on Friday, April 17, 2015, it was just announced. Tickets go on sale this Thursday, March 26 at 10 a.m. Tickets are available at MUTO (the Michigan Union Ticket Office in the basement of the Student Union), online via a link that will be live at the above MUSIC Matters website, or by phone at 734-763-8587. Tickets start at $25 for the public and $15 for students.

Concert proceeds will be used to fund a summer leadership camp at the University of Michigan for under-served Detroit youth, modeled after New York City’s well-regarded Fresh Air Fund.

It's always great when just in the act of being entertained, you can support something worthy. Since its founding four years ago at the University of Michigan, MUSIC Matters (Michigan Undergrads Serving In the Community) has brought J. Cole, Ben Folds, and 2 Chainz to Hill Auditorium, resulting in a $10,000 gift to the C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital, $50,000 to endow the Big Thinker’s Scholarship, a student-funded, need-based scholarship, and to begin the development of the aforementioned leadership camp.
