City Slang: Steve Miller at Book Beat

Posted By on Wed, Jul 10, 2013 at 8:05 PM

Steve Miller, author of the acclaimed and quite excellent Detroit Rock City, will be at Book Beat in Oak Park on Thursday, July 11, from 7 p.m.

According to a statement from Book Beat, the book “is an oral history of Detroit and its music, told by the people who were on the stage, in the clubs, the practice rooms, studios, and in the audience, blasting the music out and soaking it up, in every rock music scene from 1967 to today.”

In addition, “Book Beat and Poets & Writers, Inc. are pleased to present an evening of latter-day beat poetry hosted by ML Liebler on Thursday, July 18 at 6:30-7:30pm in Book Beat (26010 Greenfield Rd. Oak Park, MI 48237). Featured poets are: Andy Clausen, David Cope, Rod Torreson & Robin Eichele. Books will be available for purchase and signing at the event. Please call Book Beat (248) 968-1190 for any further information.”
