City Slang: Karriem Riggins’ Juke Joint

Posted By on Wed, Dec 19, 2012 at 10:13 AM

Detroit jazz drummer and hip-hop producer Karriem Riggins will DJ his Juke Joint event at Goodnite Gracie in Royal Oak on Thursday, December 27. Door is 9pm, no cover. The John Arnold Trio will also perform.

Riggins has worked with artists as diverse as Diana Krall, Erykah Badu, Common, the Roots, Paul McCartney and our own Slum Village.

“You don’t have to put yourself in a box there’s so many different ways to go,” Riggins recently told StonesThrow.com. He’s pretty much proved that very thing throughout his career. This low-key event in Royal Oak will be a rare opportunity to see a great artist in a small venue.
