Riled-up never sounded so groovy.

Call it AgitGroove, or whatever you blogoids prefer...

--> Listen: Pupils - "Bone Avenue" MP3

Though this Detroit quartet (made up of players from Legendary Creatures, Marco Polio and Red China) may sound like they’re in a sort of a firestorm-ish pinpball punk mode for eight out of this EP’s 12 tumbling minutes, they’re musical chemistry keeps a sure grip upon the nitroglycerin’s lid, cymbal slams, snare-punches and sinewy bass grooves allow the guitars and growling vocals surplus space to yowl with competing ferocities.

Things settle in at the end for a dark, dreamy psychedelic surf scene, albeit clouded with creepy (still-poetic) lyrics and swirled with dizzying reverb.  (Listen above^...or watch this trippy video for it...

Pupils plays the pool hall in Ferndale, (Loving Touch) Feb 2nd - 9pm - with Estuaries and Crappy Future.
