City Slang: Kid Rock cover called sacrilege by Sonos

Kid Rock’s cover of Bad Company’s “Feel Like Makin’ Love” has been called “sacrilege” in a chart of Courageous and Contentious Cover Songs compiled by

The chart, which can be viewed here, places the Kid Rock cover alongside Celine Dion’s awful rendition of AC/DC’s “You Shook Me All Night Long”. Also down the bottom is another Detroit native, Madonna, with her version of Don McLean’s “American Pie”.

Aretha Franklin did better, sitting about halfway up the pile with her hit version of Otis Redding’s “Respect”. Very close to the top is David Bowie’s version of “China Girl”, originally recorded by our own Iggy Pop. It seems tenuous to call that a cover though, as Bowie wrote the song for Iggy.
