Danny Brown is Going to the Bahamas

Posted By on Thu, Nov 17, 2011 at 12:41 PM

It shouldn't be surprising that Detroit rapper Danny Brown is gearing up to perform internationally. He probably should have gone across the pond already like many other thoroughly loved Detroit MC's and raked in all of the global currency that's due to come his way. His name is certainly big enough and his buzz in other countries, specifically those in Europe, is fairly large. But Brown hasn't done that. And up until now, he's had a good reason for it.

"Just because everyone says you're supposed to go overseas, that doesn't mean it's your time to go," Brown once said in an interview. "A lot of niggas be going [to Europe] and basically be playing the chitlin circuit, but they don't ever say it. I'm not going over there for that." That's a valid point, and Danny is smart for knowing what he's worth.

So it's actually fitting that his first international show is taking place on a tony ocean liner. It was announced this week that Danny will be traveling with his mates from Fools Gold Records to play the Holy Ship, a three day electronic music cruise. For fans of electronic music, the lineup actually holds merit. Rusko, Dave Nada, DJ Craze, A-Trak, Diplo, Steve Aoki, Nick Catchdubs and a lot more artists are all scheduled to play the cruise, which leaves from Fort Lauderdale on January 6, heads toward the Bahamas for a day, then hits a "private island" where the real debauchery will most likely ensue, before the ship heads home January 9. That actually sounds like a whole lot fun. It's not clear where the heck Danny Brown fits in with this mostly electro festival, but I know he'll certainly keep folks entertained and have a good time if nothing else.

The lone problem is dude doesn't have a passport yet from my knowledge but I trust that he's in the process of working on that. Let's hope so. Check out a teaser for the Holy Ship cruise below. To be forewarned, it involves rocker Tommy Lee and a boat. Based on lurid past experience, that usually means it's going to be NSFW but this one isn't bad.
